In September we interviewed one company working to create a better system for scheduling that would give added control and agency to hourly employees and alleviate frustrations of management . Meanwhile cities and states are starting to take minimum wage laws into their own hands . Following last year ’ s raise of Seattle minimum wage to $ 15 , this year New York government raised minimum wage to $ 15 as well . This has been met with resistance within the industry , but with the momentum it has gained the idea of a higher minimum wage will only continue to grow . Now the question is how the franchise industry will evolve in reflection of changing laws .
